Bio

I am a Senior Applied Scientist within the Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) organization at Amazon.

On the research-side of things, my current interests lie in deep-learning related to large language models (LLMs); specifically topics related to massively multilingual Natural Language Understanding (NLU) and Responsible AI for LLMs (see here for more details). I also enjoy driving the implementation of new tech on the production-side.

My academic background is in astrophysics. My PhD thesis comprised of analyzing X-ray and Optical data from galactic black holes and neutron stars to understand the physics of accretion disks and their state transitions (see here for more details). I obtained my PhD in Physics from Northeastern University while holding a pre-doctoral fellowship at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Before that, I obtained my BSc in Physics from the University of Colombo in the sunny tropical island of Sri Lanka, which I call home.
